House Bill 1133 provides WCCA with the opportunity to provide student scholarships, while earning you a tax credit towards your Georgia income tax liability. Under Georgia law (HB1133), tax credits will be given for donations to qualified student scholarship organizations that provide scholarships for children in K-12 who are currently in public schools and wish to attend a private school. Tax credits will be issued on a first-come first-served basis up to a statewide annual cap of fifty million dollars. If you itemize, you can deduct your contribution.
** NEW (GA Senate approved an amendment to the six-week public school attendance requirement for scholarship eligibility. The requirement is waived if a student meets one of three conditions:1. The student is zoned for a low-performing school, The student has been bullied or the family has religious objection to the public school's instruction or exercises.This makes the scholarship available for anyone)
How much is the tax credit?
Individuals: $1,000 per year
Couples filing jointly: $2,500 per year
Couples filing separately: $1250
C. Corporations up to 75% of tax liability
