Elementary Program
West Cobb Christian Academy (WCCA) is not only interested in the minds of students but also in the development of the whole child. WCCA is a training ground for the development of Christian faith and character.
In Grades K-5, the core curriculum includes the following subjects: Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Bible. Enrichment activities include Computer, Spanish, Art, Music, and Physical Education.
WCCA's curriculum provides each student with a strong foundation for spiritual, intellectual, and social growth. Concepts are continuously reinforced and revisited, to help students develop mastery of the content standards. Our teachers incorporate all learning styles as they lead students through differentiated activities developing concepts through problem solving and critical thinking skills. Through the use of hands-on learning, students are engaged to think and apply new skills, resulting in the ability to make good choices, respect others and themselves, and grow confident in their beliefs and values. Our teachers pledge to continuously increase academic achievement through the use of standard and innovative teaching techniques.
WCCA meets Monday - Friday from 8:30 - 3:30. We offer a before school program starting at 7:00 and an after school program that ends at 6:00. Students are involved in daily Bible lessons and weekly chapel services as well as community service projects. Monthly field trips and in-house learning experiences round out the learning experience.
WCCA students take the Stanford 10 standardized assessment test in Grades 1, 3, and 5 (starting in 2011). Our 1st graders scored in the 96% overall and our 3rd graders scored in the 89% overall. Eight-nine percent of our student body are working one to two grade levels above their peers in reading and math.
